Balto is an on-demand vet consultation app. Pet owners can video chat with available vets for urgent issues and get answers to questions about their beloved pets. All Balto vets are certified, and users pay an hourly fee for each consultation.

The target user is a pet owner with a common pet living in the United States. Users are in their 20s - 40s and are comfortable with using technology and engaging in video chat. Most users are typically working and have disposable income. 

While almost all users will typically have a primary vet, there are many situations where they find physical vet visits to be troublesome or inaccessible:

The design should be for a native mobile app. Users are expected to use this app almost exclusively on their phones.  You can choose to design for either iOS or Android.

The objective of this feature is to allow the user to create a medical profile for their pet that can be shared with any vet.

The user can sign up for free, but they will have to enter in their payment information before they can actually have a video consultation. How can the design make sure the user is informed about this, but not scared off by the thought of payment throughout this process?

The objective of this feature is to allow the user to enter in all the information about their pets, so that they are matched with the proper vet.

Entering into medical information, even for a pet, is a dry process and can take the user a long time as they search for information that may be scattered throughout their house or files. How can the design make this process easier or more delightful? What happens if the user doesn’t know a piece of required information?

The user should be able to create a profile for a pet and input the following information about them:

The objective of this feature is to match the user with an appropriate vet and initiate a consultation.

We need to match the user with a vet that is both available and is able to handle the pet. How can the design help reduce errors and impatience in a worried owner?

The user should enter in their payment information in order to complete the consultation request

The objective of this feature is to facilitate a one-on-one video consultation with a vet.

Video calls can be difficult. Both users will be under pressure to figure out the video controls as they talk with a stranger to resolve the pet’s medical issue. How can we make the video controls intuitive to help facilitate a smooth conversation?
